So I found this IKEA GLADOM tray table in the bargains section in IKEA and all sorts of ideas came into my head. I’ve been looking for a side table for a while but couldn’t seem to find one that I loved. So I thought to myself, if this works, awesome! If not, I didn’t lose too much money!
IKEA items used:
- GLADOM tray table
Other materials and tools:
- Black glossy spray paint
- Metallic gold spray paint
- Marble print sticker
- Knife or cutter
- Piece of cardboard to smooth the sticker
Hack instructions for luxe tray table
Make sure your table is clean and remove all stickers.
Spray paint the bottom part gold and the tray black. I did it outside. First, I spray painted one side and after a few hours did the second making sure the coats completely dried in between.
Next, I applied the sticker to the tray. First, wipe your table clean. I started at one end and slowly smoothed it till the other end.
The sticker is 30×80 cm, so it is longer and narrower than the table. So I applied it in 3 parts. (I just realized I could have just done it in 2 halves )
Use your knife or cutter to cut around the edges and remove excess.
This only took a few hours and the end result looks amazing.
The trickiest part is the sticker. Make sure u smooth it out really well and make sure the edges are all stuck till the end before u cut it.
Hope you like it.
