I made paper mache coffee tables sculpted like a dog and cat. And I named them Hulky and Siam. Below are the instructions I made — on what I call — the MOJO tables. The base of both paper mache coffee tables is the LACK side table.
IKEA Item Used:
- IKEA LACK side table
Other materials:
- Newspapers
- Masking tape
- Paste (Kleister)
- Acrylic color
1. Crumple several newspapers and affix them with masking tape in the approximate future form.
2. Continue with all four legs.
3. Crumple more papersheets and put them in a plastic bag for the belly.
4. Place the plastic bag containing crumpled paper and also affix it with masking tape. Mix paste and apply it on newspaper sheets (several layers). Tear strips and affix it.
5. Repeat the procedure with crumpled paper and plastic bag to complete belly and neck. Also affix it with pasted paper strips.
6. Then form the head, later the paws.
7. And affix them.
8. Start modelling face, ears, snout and paws. Add at least 10 more layers to strengthen the table.
9. Apply the last layer using white paper as a base for painting. Then paint with acrylic colour.
