Toddler Learning Tower from Upcycled Material

We were approached by one of our customers to make a toddler learning tower for her kid who is still trying to walk on her two feet!

So, here’s our take on the BEKVÄM Toddler Learning Tower. Hope you enjoy this as much as we do!

IKEA items used:

Other materials and tools:

  • Upcycled Pallet Wood
  • Table Saw
  • Mitre Saw
  • Hand drill power tools
  • 1 inch screws
  • Clamps
  • ¾ inch dowel
  • Sandpaper and finishing

How to hack a BEKVÄM Toddler Learning Tower:

She had an existing BEKVÄM Step Stool so we designed the top frame for her. She did a measurement from the top of the stool to the counter top which is 35cm.

We cut our pallet planks into 8cm wide using the table saw and cut it to the respective sizes using the mitre saw in our workshop as indicated.

Assembly time! We assembled the front side of the frame and attached that to the base board (step stool top). After that, we marked up all the drill holes, glue the sides in and assembled them. We also used clamps to keep our pieces in place while drilling.

After that, it’s just pure sanding and we finished it off with a finishing! Our customer brought it home and attached it to the rest of the body frame and spray it black. She loved it and we do too!

We personally loved this project so we are hosting two workshops for families and their kiddos to spend some weekend time with us to make this hack together!
