DIY a pair of cute plant shelves

Medina shows us how to IKEA hack a pair of cute plant shelves from the ever popular FROSTA stool. One stool yields two shelves.

Materials for DIY plant shelves

• 1 x IKEA FROSTA stool
• Drill and hole saw kit
• Liquid Nails adhesive
• Jigsaw or circular saw
• Furniture self-adhesive covers

Steps:

1. Using a jigsaw or circular saw cut the FROSTA seat into two perfect halves.

2. Then grab a hole saw and cut out the circle for the plant pot to sit in. The hole has to be slightly smaller than the plant pot size circumference so the pot doesn’t fall through, cause that would be a bummer.

3. Then take two of the FROSTA legs and cut them to the same length as the edge of the semi-circles. These will become your shelf brackets.

4. Attach the ‘brackets’ using Liquid Nails to the back edge of the semi-circle. Leave to dry overnight.

5. Secure the brackets further with nails or screws using pre-drilled holes. If you use screws, you can hide the screw heads with these furniture self-adhesive covers.

6. Attach the plant shelves to your wall with suitable wall fixings.

7. Lastly, pop in your plants.
