IKEA item used: REGOLIT paper lamp shade
Whilst on a visit to London, I popped into one of my favorite interiors stores and spotted some gorgeous Danish Vita Feather lampshades. I fell in love with the lampshades but not their designer prices. On closer inspection, I noticed that the lovely lamp shades were simply made of paper and feathers I knew I could recreate them easily.

I did just that with a REGOLIT paper lampshade from IKEA and some feather boas from a party supply shop with a bit of Mod Podge.
This was one of the simplest IKEA Hacks I have ever done. The feather boas were simply stuck onto the lampshade with the Mod Podge glue.
I love this feather lampshade it has certainly added a bit of glamorous fun to my dining room. The REGOLIT paper lampshade is rather large so this makes this a lovely large lamp that gives a lovely soft light though the feathers.
As this is a paper lampshade I recommend you use a LED light bulb not more than 60w as these don’t get too hot.
If you are wondering how to clean the lampshade, just blast it with a hairdryer on a cool setting every so often.

Here are other ways to hack a feather shade
The super economical MELODI lampshade is a prime candidate for a glamorous upgrade. And it’s even better in trios. See how it’s done here.
Nothing lightens up a dull corner than a fancy boa feather standing lamp. Want something more understated? Go for black with the lamp stand spray painted in copper or gold.
